Its goal, as stated on the WISELI website (see below for link) is to provide "faculty with information, advice, and techniques that will help them run more effective and efficient search committees, diversify their applicant pools, their interviewed candidates, the offers they make, and ultimately the new faculty they hire."
  • The workshop is aimed at department chairs, program directors, and members of college-wide tenure and promotion committees and academic freedom and rights committees.
  • For more information see the WISELI website:

SUN Speed Mentoring Workshop
Sunday, April 5, 2009, 2-4 PM, Skidmore College
  • At this event approximately 25 female STEM faculty from Skidmore College and Union College gathered to participate in "speed mentoring," which is somewhat like speed dating. During the course of the event, each mentee met with several mentors to get a variety of opinions on academic, personal and professional issues. The speed mentoring session was followed by a reception with light appetizers, at which mentors and mentees met to connect for longer conversations.
